dc #183: THRESHOLD

Black/white is a strong contrast

and is plane/domed, too.

A longed-for destination: I told you the story about this ticket here, a few years ago.
And yes, I still haven't been to Italy and still longing, since now. But next year, I wanna get over the threshold of less money and more family commitments. I dream of a trip to Naples, to Ischia, wanna look at the Mount Vesuvius, visit Pompeii, Capri, the Amalfi coast after my 50th birthday, next year in 2016!

So, as an approaching I have drawn this view on the Mount Vesuvius over the Bay of Naples.
A volcano is a threshold, too, and it's the theme of Tammie Lee for this 183rd drawing challenge.
I have implemented this theme with lead pencil, coal and red calk on paper, 30x20cm.

Please, keeping an eye out after other thresholds at Tammie's place!

Influences | Sarah Moon

In einer Zeitschrift hatte ich damals wunderschöne Fotos gesehen, es muss Mitte der 1980er gewesen sein: von ihrer Wohnung, Gegenstände, Blumen, von ihr selbst fotografiert. Hatte das Parfum Loulou von Cacharel getragen, es geliebt... vermutlich, auch wegen des Werbefotos, das von ihr war.

1988 hatte ich mir meine erste Kamera gekauft, eine Pentax Spiegelreflex. Später während des Studiums habe ich dann mit gepushtem Fotonegativen herumexperimentiert. Das grobe Korn, die Unschärfe, das Geheimnisvolle faszinieren mich noch – nur ist es in meinen Bildern meistens heller (s.o. Heckenrose, 1998)

Ich habe sie zwischen den wartenden Besuchern gesehen. Zierlich, das Haar kurz, Brille, dunkel gekleidet, huschte sie unerkannt durch den Raum. Als sie gerade an mir vorbeiging, schickte ich ein leises: "Welcome". Sarah Moon hielt an, war überrascht, und erwiderte dann ein erfreutes: "Thank you!" Wir nickten uns zu und die Szene löste sich auf. – Es wurden noch Reden gehalten und dann
die Ausstellung Sarah Moon 'Now And Then' im Haus der Fotografie
für eröffnet erklärt.

In a mag I've seen wonderful photos, it must be in the middle of the eighties: of her house, materials, flowers, photographed by her. Had sprayed the parfume Loulou of Cacharel, loved it... maybe because of the promotional photograph, taken by her.

1988 I've bought my first camera, a Pentax reflex camera. Later during my study I've experimented with pushed negatives. The big grain, the blurry, the mysterious are still fascinating for me till today – only my pics are brighter (s.a. dog rose, 1998)

I've seen her between the waiting visitors. Petite, short hair, glasses, dressed dark, flitted incognito through the room. As she past me, I send her a gentle: "Welcome". Sarah Moon has stopped, surprised, and friendly replied: "Thank you!" We gave us a nod and the scene disappeared. – There were speeches held and then the exhibition in the House of Photography Sarah Moon 'Now And Then' were declared open.
