Drawing challenge #20: BALANCE

Balance...

Balance...
the more I've occupied with this theme, I've noticed how much balance is (necessary) in our life.
For my pencil drawing I've brought some colour into play as balance.
Between two trees there is a slackline stretched on it a man balancing.

For Descartes a tree is an allegory for the prof of the existence of God: a tree has got a visible crown and a unvisible roots. Ergo, something unvisible for us can exist after all.

To hold the balance a middle is needful, but she isn't by the half ever... even the focus is relavant. The lower it is the more stable the balance.
I've never been on a slackline (by now), would check it out too much!

In the meantime I'm trying to hold the balance with my estate in the Castle. In the process is the quantity of high relevance. The more dishes I've got the more difficult to manage...

BALANCE is the theme for this week's drawing challenge.

Swing with
Elisabeth and Jasmin,
Nadine and Patrice, Renilde and Hagar,
Claudia and Maria,
Rachel and Stephanie, Dani and Julia
bright shuttling on a tree.

  1. so anyway. slackline.
here's another wonderful slackline performance, it popped to mind, i think you may love it.

i'm pretty sure a similar thought rose up in me, as you proposed this balance theme. i especially like your little drawn men. the technicality of this! i've never gotten further than owning a wooden example 'puppet', and curling it whichever (silly) way i can... for amusement.
    cheers for the insight though.

  5. I think, therefore I am...not going to get any sleep tonight. Too much on my mind, needing to find my figurative balance.
I love the trees and I am a firm believer in the things seen and the things unseen. Beautifully illustrated by you.

And your dishes stacked and balanced so precariously. Did they fall at the end in that blurry shot? I'm hoping you were just being creative there. What a shame to break any of those beauties!

Thank you for this theme. I'm still pondering it...

  6. Dear Nadine,
thank you for the song with slackline, I love it!
I've had my work cut out with drawing the little men... but I accept the challenge.

    Thank you, dear Claudia,
and I am working hard on my balance, too.

    Liebe Barbara,

    Dear Rachel,
    God morning!
... I were just creative, thank God...

  8. Dear Ariane, your cup and saucers photos are so fairy-tale like, made me think of Alice. I love your drawing style, very fragile and fine but also full of meaning. Some weeks ago i made a sketch with a striking resemblance to your tree painting, only in my drawing there were a man and woman walking towards eachother on that rope, funny.
love the trees, are that fingerprint dots you used?
Thanks for the lovely theme, x

  9. The first thing that struck me were the roots of the trees. I absolutely love how your mind works, that was a great idea.

Balance really IS more important than most of us realise!

  10. Thank you for a wonderful theme dear Ariane! I love trees as a symbol for life and it's not often you see their roots as in your drawing even though they are so vital to the tree itself. love it. and all the happy men enjoying themselves!! and the cups and saucers... sigh.. what a beautiful balance act!!!

  11. Dear Patrice,
    thank you
I'll come to your 'balance' shortly.

    Dear Renilde,
you make me nosy for your painting!
And, yes, I used my fingertips.

    Dear Ansku,
    nice to see you again.
...I agree with you and: it concerns more spheres than most of us realize!

    Thank you, dear Maria.
I hope that your 'knees' no longer hurts.

    Ariane.
