dc #190: METAMORPHOSIS (II) {+COCOON II}

The cocoon starts to spin, it spins like a whirling dervish –
and suddenly, it falls down! There is a crack,
golden light and the hull is open

Oh! and there is something inside,
a black orb, well-cushioned

I shake it, softly, and the orb sloughs, rolls out of the soft cell

I reach for the orb
and in my fingers, like a waxing moon, it turns golden!

I am the host for the 190th of drawing challenge and the theme is

METAMORPHOSIS

Starting with the COCOON, theme of the last week's drawing challenge of Patrice, I ask myself what will be inside of it. I didn't know. Then, through the experience of strange bad headaches, especially in the last year, I venture the guess, that there is a remain of grief and I should better ease the tensions... and the line of Faust I by J. W. v. Goethe has passed my mind:

"Das also war des Pudels Kern!"

"So this, then, was the kernel of the brute!"

For sheer fear to fall in a depression, I hadn't allowed myself to feel or express any sadness, no tears. But this is so important! And, it is only a mood, a slowly mood, but only a phase.

For this drawing challenge I have padded out the cocoon with catkins and colored a kernel of an
avocado black and golden (thank you for your patience). With the same egg tempera I painted a canvas (20/20cm, ca. 8/8inch):

The metamorphosis of an attitude (one can turn it)

For more of metamorphosis have a look at these amazing players:

I am really curious about your metamorphosis

Thank you for playing, dear friends!

I wish you a happy weekend!

dc #189: COCOON

On my way to work I took the path through the garden,
last Thursday. It was cold and the snow crunched under my boots.
Very calming sound to me. And it felt as if life is covered in a blanket
or in a wrap of mother Nature.

Sometimes men help her with built boxes for the tropic plants.

I hurried on

After work, in my 'meantime' before work at home

I stopped in for a coffee

Later, in the Lionspalace, I have found a strange thing in
the Crassula ovata hanging on a golden thread.
It has spinned around, about 17cm/6.7inch long...
very vividly and alive?!? What's inside?

Well, I let this being

I stay tuned, browse through a little illustrated book of
Maria Sibylla Merian (find more of her at dc #49: BUTTERFLY), wrapped
in a woolen blanket. Look! a blossom of a banana tree!

Stay tuned.

Be patient (I'll try, too)

For this week's drawing challenge No. 189 my dear friend Patrice is our host (you can find a bird printed by her on my bookshelf). Her theme is COCOON and it has been a pleasure to play!
I have taken you on an early walk in the Botanical Garden 'Planten un Blomen' and I have built this 'thing' out of papier-maché and a (pink) ballon. Later I wanna show you, how it looks inside and what it was... I don't know, but now it is still growing.

Please come to Patrice's beautiful place to find more COCOONs

Have a nice weekend!

Kurzurlaub in den Tropen

We've met at the palm house, last Friday.
It looked like a day for water the plants. Because of the low temperatures outside, first my lens was fogged, when I enter the inside of the glass house. Waiting for Bee, I strolled around, took photos with camera and phone, attentive of the gardener, who still ran with the hose pipe. There were a sound of quaffable bicker in the air, warm and fresh, livelily and somehow lip-smacking. I took deep breath, with a smile on my face.

Bee came and we took place on a bench under the blossoming
nutmeg tree and started to draw its blossoms, which were fallen down.

I had trouble concentrating for drawing, because of other visitors of the palm house watching us or the gardener... I think he made jokes with us, coming with the water close to us and laughed about our worry to get wet.

I even get sidetracked by different other attractions and asked another gardener e.g., what is the reason for this sail. The answer: it is for bringing the warm air down to lower levels,

it is for circulate the air.

I had never seen the blossom of a banana tree before! Did you?

We will come back, will meet at the fishes or under the nutmeg tree, again.
When it is cold outside, and one can't travel to a warmer place... , the inside of a palm house
is a fine place to hibernate!

PS: I will come to your LOVE (dc #188) soon!
