Drawing challenge #16: DREAM

I'm dreaming
of  a house with a garden close to the ocean and a city with space for all of us and for friends. The house has got many rooms and when I walk down the hallway there are many doors. Sometimes I cut along at a closed door and I brake, go back, I want to decipher whats written on a plate (!) right hand side. At the beginning the letters are clearly, but than they dissolve...

I open the door
and am very surprised, because this room I didn't know by now... and from this room it goes to the next! I hear bird songs and the swoosh of the trees or are this the waves at the sea? I know I'm dreaming and telling me 'all is possible, have a look!' and I open the frensh door and stare in the eyes of a fruit tree.
There are all sort of fruits assembled from A like apples over to P like plums of my Grandfather's garden and: dates! Herbage are there, the rosmary smell's pretty resiny and on top of the eggs of the chicken there is chives. Smelling roses in all colours climbs up the house, holly-hock, peonies, light blue larkspur, viola and forget-me-not...in clumps.

Like in a true dream I'm afraid to forget something. During thinking about this, I believe to not forget... but then the thought has dissolved...

in ferner, naher Zukunft.

This dream I  dreamt for real, often and like remembering.
Is it a idle wish or a vision of something thats gone - or will come?
So long as I'm collecting porcelain from flea markets, embroidered table cloths and everything else in the Castle at the Eisenbach, which is bursting at the seams, since my dream comes true... in distant, near future.

This week's drawing challenge of famous Elisabeth is hosted by woolfy Nadine. Please, come to her place to see other surprising DREAMs.

  1. Sounds like a beautiful place to dream of! Lately I've been dreaming of a little summer cottage by the lake - well, I think that's what half of Finland's population is dreaming of... I hope some day I can be a proud owner of a little cabin like that. Oh, and just like yours, my dream also includes a lot of space for friends! :)

Have a wonderful weekend, dear Ariane!

  4. do you remember 'all we ever look for' by kate bush? if you do, there's doors in there. if you don't, go look it up.
it's kate bush who brings me, via your words to cathy's wuthering heights too, as do your drawings. they look very mysterious for their black and white character; a little cloudy, revealing just enough to keep the spectator guessing.
i'm guessing plenty and all sorts... ! ;)))

  7. Dear Ariane,
SLumberland original 24 x 36. i had it digitally preserved for print purposes if you are interested in a print - it makes a lovely poster!
the bit i showed in my post was the upper most left corner of the image - the cloudy ethereal puff where dreams are made of :)
    xo
ps i used a Kate Bush song for my post - and Nadine thought of another one of her songs looking at your work. :)

  10. :) Well, the fame lasted for about a second, so I guess there are 14 minutes and 59 seconds left for some other time :D

Thank you for sharing the dream. I felt the rhythm and I recognized the hallway and those doors. I walk there too. Finding rooms filled with fabrics, stones and broken furniture. Sometimes scary and sometime leaving a peaceful sentiment of fresh air from a window. Like yours.
    Kram.
